Multiple positions available. Since
this is a BYA (By Agreement) classification, there is no
expectation for hours worked. Instead, there is an expected minimum
of 750 applications read and a maximum of 1700. Admissions Freshman
Reviewers are paid $2.80 per application. Admissions Freshman
Reviewers cannot be employed as a reader by more than one campus.
Must be able to attend the weeklong virtual training. The training
is tentatively set for the week of November 12 - November 15
(November 11th is a holiday). Trainings will require active
attention and participation in Zoom meetings with attendees'
cameras on. Outside of the required virtual training, staff are
free to work whatever schedule best fits their needs. Staff will
need to keep up with weekly reading quotas, but can create their

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The Office of Undergraduate Admissions
generates, reviews, and processes in excess of 67,000 applications
and serves approximately 38,000 campus visitors each year. The
office has 44 career staff FTE, 45-50 part-time/temporary staff,
and 150 student staff. Staff works locally and regionally
throughout California and the nation. The office is part of
Enrollment Management, which includes Financial Aid and
Scholarships, Orientation, and Undergraduate Admissions. Enrollment
Management is part of the multi-faceted academic Division of
Undergraduate Education. Undergraduate Admissions, Enrollment
Management, and Undergraduate Education work closely with select

SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Associate Director of
Admissions -- Evaluations & Advising Services, the incumbent is
responsible for the evaluation and analysis of academic records and
an array of personal information from individuals applying for
undergraduate frosh admission to the University of California,
Santa Cruz. The incumbent will interpret and apply a wide variety
of complex faculty-approved policies to determine an applicant's UC
eligibility, complete an appropriate holistic assessment, and
determine if an applicant has met the UC Santa Cruz selection
criteria to be admitted to the campus. The incumbent will receive
training in the process of review of freshman applicants prior to
the start of the current application review cycle. APPOINTMENT

50% - Eligibility Assessment
- Uses extensive knowledge of department requirements and
applicant pool, to assess applicants' overall record and experience
for final admissions determination and recommendation.
- Analyzes student application materials to determine complete
educational history.
- Determines UC eligibility status, including research concerning
accreditation, variant educational and grading systems, and
external collegiate coursework for its comparability to UC
coursework. 30% - Guideline Application
- Interprets and applies complex UC faculty-approved guidelines
governing undergraduate freshman admission. 10% - Reference and
Research
- Uses reference materials including but not limited to UC's high
school course agreements on the Doorways website, the UC California
course list database, and the California statewide articulation
database, ASSIST. 10% - Training
- Completes training and norming sessions related to the review
of freshman applicants seeking admission to the University of
California, Santa Cruz.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in related area or combination of equivalent
experience / training.
- Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student
population.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to make accurate and consistent
interpretations of a broad variety of academic and/or
administrative policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to research and analyze information and
come to appropriate conclusions, employing complex policies and
procedures.
- Experience in effectively using robust web-based and/or
networked applications to effectively input, access, and analyze
information critical to the daily functioning of the work
environment.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, particularly
in matters relative to sensitive or confidential student records,
personnel or organizational matters.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and set priorities
in the context of a full, multifaceted set of
responsibilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge and experience using standard computing tools
including Microsoft Office applications, on-line databases, email,
and web-based research tools PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of Oracle/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions system,
as well as other student-based computing environments.
- Knowledge of UC admissions practices and procedures.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment
criminal history background check.
- Ability to work long periods of time at a computer with or
without accommodation.
- This is a fully remote position, and the selected candidate
must be able to work successfully from a home/remote office and be
able to fulfill the requirements of the UCSC telecommuting
agreement.
- Must provide own computer, internet access, and any other
office equipment required to complete the duties of the
position.
- Ability to work a variable schedule.

weekends.
